According to a report on ESPN.com, Knicks President Donnie Walsh has prohibited Isiah Thomas from speaking to any of the Knicks players. Reportedly, Walsh was afraid that Thomas might undermine the new coach’s strategy and relationship with the players.

In a interview Tuesday with ESPN Radio New York 1050 AM, Walsh indicated he believes Isiah Thomas can be a good scout for the team:

I can call him up and say, ‘Listen, there’s a tournament in Europe, this guy is playing, I’d love for you to go see him play and give me an opinion… That would be an example of the kind of things I would ask Isiah.’

The New York Post is reporting that on Monday night, the Knicks will host the Boston Celtics in the last game at Madison Square Garden of the season and perhaps the last time Isiah Thomas will step foot inside the Garden for a good while… AND Hoping to raise this season’s sell-out count to 20, James Dolan has decided…

… to throw a party! The Knicks will be giving away free hot dogs, pretzels, soda, and water. Free food? Sounds like MSG is trying to throw a rockin’ "Farewell Isiah" celebration! And did you catch that? The Knicks sold out nearly half the team’s home games this year.

Maciej Lampe Predicts “Big Minutes” in NBA Return

MACIEJ WATCH - In a recent interview with HoopsHype’s Raúl Barrigón , former Knick "prospect" Maciej Lampe talked about his move to Russia during which he turned from teenager to man and stated that if an NBA team calls, he’ll want to return. The 23 year-old blamed his failed NBA stint on "some injuries" and a lack of luck.

Lampe didn’t hesitate to take a shot at the Knicks either, saying it was difficult to play in New York because the practice facility was too far from the arena, and admitting he "wasn’t around too much" (This is the same Lampe who was busted for eating popcorn during practice.). He’s happy where he is now, though:

"Here in Russia I’ve grown up as a player. I feel respected and everybody recognizes my game ."

You hear that, LeBron James? You’d better recognize. ML is coming back for round two and he wants some respect.

New Knicks Duo: Billy King & Donnie Walsh?

Ken Berger of Newsday is reporting that Billy King and Donnie Walsh will be joining the Knicks at the end of the year as a “package deal.” Apparently, Walsh wants to bring in his good friend King to serve as the team’s general manager.

Former Sixers GM Billy King

You know who’s also good friends with King? Garden Sports Pres Steve Mills, who, along with Isiah Thomas, is likely to remain employed by his good friend, James Dolan!

With each day looking more and more like Walsh is indeed set to take control of the ship, it’s also looking more and more as if Isiah will get to stay aboard. If you’re keeping track, that’s two new hires for the Knicks and zero fires (but who’s counting?). In other words, the Knicks are getting a shakeup, not a purging.
